Welcome to the DivorceCare Support Group at New City Church (formerly Church at Charlotte). Our new session begins Wednesday, August 28, 6:30 pm, we meet in room W-7 at our SouthPark campus. The room is on the right side of the sanctuary at New City Church, 2500 Carmel Road. Some helpful information for the first session:
Child care is available but does require advanced registration by email at: https://newcity.us/community/support-groups
* The group will be made up of people in all stages of separation and divorce
* There will be some light snacks available each week
The DivorceCare program utilizes a 13 week faith-based Video Seminar that varies by topic from week to week followed by a Small Group Discussion. You can review the full 13 week scheduled of topics here: https://www.divorcecare.org/about/topics
You will receive your own Workbook to take notes with the opportunity to journal personal study and reflection during the week along with a helpful "Parent Page" based on the same weekly video topic.
Your leader/facilitators have all been through the pain of divorce and can relate to the emotions and challenges you may be experiencing.
If you are like most of us, you might be feeling nervous or even a little embarrassed about coming to your first DivorceCare session. These feelings are normal. After a few sessions, you’ll begin to notice that you look forward to coming and many participants claim it'a a highlight within their week! You will also find it helpful to be around people who understand how you feel and that you have a safe/judgment-free place to share what is going on in your life.
You will hear concepts and practical advice that can help you heal from your separation or divorce. We're sorry for what you're going through, but we're glad you found our group and look forward to walking alongside you on the road to recovery and healing.
