DivorceCare Leader-Equipping Video
The Leader-Equipping DVD that comes with your DivorceCare kit gives you an overview of what it takes to run a successful DivorceCare ministry. Use this video to prepare your DivorceCare leadership team for effective ministry. It’s also a great tool for training future DivorceCare leaders at your church. Plan to show this video at least once per year to refresh your leaders, and whenever new leaders join your team.
This DVD video, entitled Making DivorceCare Work (Disc 5 in your kit), can be used in two different ways:
Individual viewing
If you have overall responsibility for divorce recovery ministry in your church or if you are the person who is starting a new divorce recovery ministry, use this video to help you formulate a strategy and foundation for your ministry.
Leadership training sessions
Use Making DivorceCare Work to train and equip people to serve in your ministry. It can be particularly helpful in assisting you in training support group facilitators.
The total viewing time is 74 minutes, divided into three parts:
Part 1 Ministry Overview
21 minutes
The first part offers an overview of a successful DivorceCare ministry. It explores a series of “DivorceCare Distinctives,” those elements that help define the nature and scope of a DivorceCare group.
Part 2 Effective Leaders
23 minutes
Part 2 explores the qualities and characteristics of an effective support group facilitator. This video segment also examines some common misconceptions about the role of such a leader/facilitator.
Part 3 Effective Groups
30 minutes
Part 3 is designed to equip leaders in ways to effectively lead a DivorceCare support group. This segment helps you establish goals for effective group discussions, examines common mistakes and offers suggestions on how to structure your DivorceCare group. It also explores ways to stimulate discussion and deal with problems that may arise.
We have included Making DivorceCare Work outlines and discussion questions to reproduce for your leadership team when you are using this DVD for training (see your DivorceCare Leader’s Guide).
