Creative ways to pay for a DivorceCare kit
Churches are often looking for creative ways to make the initial investment to start DivorceCare. Here are a few ideas that other churches have found helpful:
- Require a registration fee. Charge participants a registration fee that covers the cost of the workbook, refreshments and the other expenses of your DivorceCare ministry. Many groups charge $12 to $20. Over time, the registration fees will, in effect, reimburse the church for the cost of the kit. Leaders have also reported that charging a fee often makes participants value the group more, thus improving attendance.
- Ask someone to donate the kit. It’s likely that there are people in your church who have a passion for divorce recovery ministry. Why not ask one, or all of them, to consider giving your church the money to order a kit and workbooks?
